The U.S. Justice Department announced that Native American tribes would be allowed to grow and sell marijuana on their sovereign territories if they abide by the federal statutes laid out for the respective states that have already legalized the drug. It may be a controversial opinion but Native Americans have gambling already and it is extremely lucrative for them. Is it fair to also allow them to have the lucrative marijuana trade? Our farmers struggle to make a living. For-profit businesses subject to taxes can’t compete against Native American enterprises and regulatory oversight will be hampered. I am not sure this is a good move.
