Trust and Estate Probate and Administration

The trust and estate probate and administration group at Evans Fox LLP has decades of experience handling probate and administration proceedings in Surrogate’s Courts throughout New York State.  Often, formal court proceedings to administer the affairs of our clients are not necessary.  However, if it becomes necessary, our experience will make the process as transparent and efficient as possible.  Our focus is on communication with our clients, to make certain they are aware of every step of the process.  We hold ourselves to a high standard and expect our clients to hold us accountable.  At the outset, we review many critical but straightforward concerns, including developing a timeline, defining the interested parties, determining the priority amongst creditors, accounting to beneficiaries and confirming when distributions to beneficiaries may be made.  Additionally, we pay careful attention to tax concerns, including the preparation of personal and fiduciary (estate and trust) income tax returns and estate (inheritance) tax returns.  Finally, together with our litigation group, we are also well-suited to address such matters as Will objections and accounting disputes, which often arise in estate proceedings.
