Kenneth Kraus Casual - Evans Fox LLPKenneth “Ken” Kraus is a Partner of the firm and a graduate of the SUNY at Buffalo Law School and a cum laude graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Ken is an active member of the Trust and Estates and Elder Law Sections of the New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations, the Estate Planning Council of Rochester, NY, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. He is a frequent presenter for community and bar association events on the topics of Wills, estate administration and probate along with elder law, long term care planning and Medicaid related subjects.

 

Ken is a strong believer in giving back to and supporting community service organizations and as such served as Town Justice for the Town of Chili for six years and as Deputy Town Supervisor of the Town of Chili for two years, was on the Council of the Trusts & Estates Section of the Monroe County Bar Association for three years and served for ten years as a member of the Board of Directors of Epilepsy Pralid Inc. (a local non-profit assisting individuals with epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries and developmental disabilities).  Ken also serves on the Board of Governors of the Al Sigl Foundation and as a volunteer attorney for JustCause (formerly Volunteer Legal Services Project) and has served as a Court appointed Guardian ad Litem for developmentally disabled individuals.

Overview & Experience

Kenneth Kraus helps individuals and families prepare their estate plan, including Wills, asset protection Trusts, Supplemental Needs Trusts (SNTs), Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies. He also assists with the probate process including the preparation of income, fiduciary, gift and estate tax returns and the sale of real estate. In addition, Ken works with families to help them understand the complexities of long-term care financing, including Medicare, Medicaid, home care and nursing home planning. Given the ever-changing estate and income tax laws and the increasing concern of special needs and long-term care planning, Ken’s depth and breadth of experience helps the firm’s clients understand the scope of these different risks to their estate plans and financial independence.
